Please be mindful while you are playing at MVP and BC. There have been reports of several cars being broken into. The most recent break-in at Bear creek was someone smashing in a car window to gain access to valuables in the vehicle.  There was not much detail as to whether the break-ins at MVP were in the parking lot or along the side by the railroad tracks. If you are planning to play for long periods, it would probably be beneficial to take a break and go check on your car. I know most players are playing for hours at a time which allows for any vandalism or car break-ins to occur. If you witness any suspicious activity taking place, please be cautious and contact the police.

The standard location for the Paddles Up Trough at MVP is currently wet and muddy.  The Trough has been temporarily relocated to the east side of the courts near the flagpole. It will be returned to its original location when conditions improve.

Do not manually attempt to remove snow and ice from the BC Court’s playing surface. You will cause the warranty to be voided.

If the gates for BC are locked, respect El Paso County Park and Rec’s decision to protect their courts. Check our “Where to Play” list for alternative courts and try one of the other listed sites.

    Thank you!

    PADDLE UP SYSTEM

When all courts are being used and other players are waiting to play, the PPPA has established the following paddle up system at the two largest pickleball facilities in the Pikes Peak region.

Paddle-Up Process at Monument Valley Park (MVP):

    • MVP uses the TROUGH system.  Paddles are stacked (4 for doubles, 2 for singles) in the trough from left to right (see pic below); the paddles to the left go to the next open court and other paddles move to the left.
    • Games are played 1-11, win by 2 and then leave the court so the next group up can take the open court.
    • When you finish your game and leave the court, call out “COURT OPEN” and the group to the left in the Trough will go to the open court.

Paddle-Up Process at Bear Creek Regional Park (BC):

    • BC uses paddle up racks to determine next in the queue.  The 12 courts are divided into quadrants (1-3, 4-6, 7-9, 10-12); there is one paddle up rack for each quadrant for a total of four racks.
    • Players waiting for an open court stack paddles (4 for doubles, 2 for singles) in the rack from left to right (see pic below); the paddles to the left go to the next open court and other paddles move to the left.  Please pay attention to see which of the three courts in your quadrant finishes first.
    • Games are played 1-11, win by 2 and then leave the court so the next group up can take the open court.
    • When you finish your game and leave the court, call out “COURT OPEN” and the group to the left in the rack will go to the open court.

Let’s all be polite to one another and fair in our use and sharing of courts during the busy times at MVP and BC.

    Paddle-Up Process:

If you are NEW to how the Trough System at MVP works, below is a brief overview:

    • The TROUGH system is used when the courts at MVP are full and there are players waiting for an open court.
    • Let’s all be polite to one another and fair in our use and sharing of courts during the busy times of day at MVP.
